Excavation is where accuracy pays for itself. Over-dig and you are paying for extra concrete or backfill. Under-dig and the formworker is waiting while the machine comes back. Civil Scope Earthworks delivers bulk and detail excavation for builders, developers, civil contractors and homeowners across Campbelltown and Sydney, with operators who have spent their careers in the seat.
Our director, Rob May, has more than 30 years in the construction industry, and the business began as ASF Excavations before growing into Civil Scope. That history shows in the way we plan a dig: services located and marked, levels checked, batters or shoring confirmed, spoil managed, and the excavation handed over clean and to depth.
All of our excavation work follows AS 3798 and our own WHS management system, and we provide SWMS, risk assessments and plant documentation before we arrive.
Bulk and detail excavation, explained
Bulk excavation removes the main volume of material, for example digging out a basement or cutting a building platform into a slope. Detail excavation is the precise work that follows: footings, pier holes, lift pits, service pits and the shapes that structural drawings call for. We deliver both, which means one contractor, one programme and no gap between trades.
On larger sites we sequence the bulk dig to keep trucks moving and spoil off the critical path, then bring in smaller machines and experienced operators for the detail work so it is cut neatly to line and level.
Detail excavation, Varroville · Reitsma ConstructionsWorking around services and neighbours
Before any excavation starts we confirm the location of underground services with Before You Dig Australia plans and, where needed, a service locator. Excavations near boundaries are planned with your engineer so neighbouring structures stay supported. Dust, noise and truck movements are managed so the job does not become the neighbourhood complaint.
Excavation for Defence, utility and council clients
We have completed excavation under head contractors at Holsworthy, for council works in Wollongong, and for civil and electrical contractors across NSW and the ACT. These sites come with permits, inductions and strict reporting, and our team is used to working inside those systems.
