Earthworks contractors for South West Sydney.

From the first scrape of topsoil to a compacted, trimmed and level pad, we deliver the earthworks that every residential, commercial and civil build stands on. Planned properly, documented properly and finished to the levels on your drawings.

Earthworks contractors for South West Sydney.

Earthworks is the part of a project nobody sees once the slab goes down, and the part that causes the most grief when it is done badly. A pad that is out of level, fill that was never compacted in layers, or a batter cut too steep for the ground all show up later as cracked slabs, ponding water and variation claims. Civil Scope Earthworks exists to get that first stage right.

Working out of St Andrews, we deliver earthworks across Campbelltown, Camden, Liverpool, Narellan and the wider Macarthur region, and regularly travel to the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and ACT for builders and head contractors who want the same crew on every job. Our earthworks are carried out in line with AS 3798, the Australian guideline for earthworks on commercial and residential developments.

Whether you are a homeowner preparing a block for a knockdown rebuild, a builder who needs a house pad and service trenches ready for the concreter, or a civil contractor looking for a reliable subcontractor on a larger package, we price it clearly, turn up when we say we will and leave the site ready for the next trade.

Residential earthworks

On residential jobs the brief is usually tight: a house pad cut to level, fill benched and compacted, sediment controls up, and the block left clean enough for the slab crew to start without a day of rework. We work directly with owners and with builders, and we are used to tight suburban blocks, shared driveways, overhead power and neighbours who want to know what is happening.

Before we start, we walk the block, check the plans and levels, and flag anything that will affect the price, such as rock, poor access, existing services or fill that will need to be imported. That means fewer surprises once the machines are on site.

Commercial & civil earthworks

For builders and head contractors, we supply operators, plant and supervision for bulk and detail earthworks packages on commercial, industrial, education and Defence sites. Our project engineer and director stay across the job, and our documentation (SWMS, risk assessments, plant records and environmental controls) is provided before mobilisation, not chased up halfway through.

We have worked under head contractors on Defence estates, council sites and utility infrastructure, so we understand site inductions, permit systems and the reporting that comes with them.

Built around safety and the environment

Every earthworks job starts with a site-specific safety analysis and a Construction Environmental Management Plan. Sediment fences, stabilised entries and stockpile controls go in before the bulk work starts, and toolbox talks run daily as conditions change. It is the reason our safety record stands at zero serious injuries in ten years.

What's included

Earthworks scope.

The core of what we deliver. Every job is quoted to the site, so tell us what you need and we'll tailor the scope.

Bulk earthworks

Large-volume cut and fill to design levels, using excavators, loaders and trucks sized to the site.

Cut and fill & benching

Balancing cut against fill where possible to reduce cart-away, with benching into slopes for stable fill.

Topsoil strip & stockpile

Scraping and stockpiling topsoil for reuse in landscaping, kept clear of the work area and sediment-controlled.

Compaction & trimming

Fill placed and compacted in layers, then trimmed to level ready for sub-base, slab or pavement.

Batters & retaining cuts

Cutting batters to safe angles and preparing cuts for retaining walls and rock breaking where required.

Spoil removal

Loading and trucking excess spoil off site to licensed facilities, with dockets kept for your records.

FAQs

Earthworks questions.

Can't see your question? Call 0432 506 741 and talk to someone who's done the work.

What is the difference between earthworks and excavation?

Earthworks is the broader term for reshaping ground on a site: cut, fill, benching, compaction and levelling. Excavation is the digging part of it, such as basements, footings, trenches and detail cuts. Most projects need both, and we deliver both.

Do you supply compaction testing?

We place and compact fill in layers to suit the specification. Where your engineer or certifier needs formal compaction testing, we coordinate with a NATA-accredited testing provider so results are ready when required.

Can you remove excess soil from my site?

Yes. We load and truck spoil off site to appropriately licensed facilities and keep the disposal dockets. Where soil needs classification first, we can arrange that before it leaves site.

Which areas do you cover for earthworks?

We are based in St Andrews and work across Campbelltown, Camden, Liverpool, Narellan and the Macarthur region, with regular work in the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Greater Sydney and the ACT.

How long does residential earthworks take?

A standard house pad on a cleared suburban block is often completed in a few days. Rock, slope, access and weather all affect that, and we will give you a realistic timeframe with the quote.
